  • Victor Chandler To Sponsor Nottingham Forest

Posted on July 9th, 2009 admin No comments

Online bookmaker Victor Chandler has announced it will be official sponsor of Coca-Cola Championship football club Nottingham Forest for the season 09/10 for an initial one-year term.

Victor Chandler brand will appear on Forest’s new home and away kits, as well as adult replica kits. The famous Victor Chandler script logo will have a major presence in The City Ground, and will become the In-Stadia betting partner. In addition Victor Chandler has plans for promotions and benefits for adult season ticket holders and fans purchasing the new home and away shirts.

Victor Chandler also announced the appointment of Viv Anderson MBE as the company’s Football Ambassador. Anderson made 328 appearances for Nottingham Forest between 1974 and 1984 and was part of their dual European Cup winning team. “I am delighted to be working with Victor and his team. I obviously have a great affinity with Nottingham Forest and look forward to being involved with the club once more. Both Nottingham Forest and Victor Chandler are steeped in history and both of them definitely belong in the Premier League,” Anderson said.

Chairman Victor Chandler commented “I am delighted with the agreement to sponsor Nottingham Forest and to welcome Viv Anderson to the company. This deal means Victor Chandler profile will be raised significantly in the UK, and comes at a great time with the imminent launch of my new website. I am also excited about the worldwide media opportunities the Championship now offers, particularly in the Far East. My only concern is offering the 40/1 top price about them winning the Championship this season!”

  • Bet-at-home Blocked From Sponsoring ATP Hamburg Open

Posted on July 6th, 2009 admin No comments

Authorities of Hamburg have issued a cease and desist order against online gaming operator bet-at-home.com and local tournament organisers in an attempt to block the company’s title sponsorship of the ATP Hamburg Open.

Last week the tournament was renamed to the Bet-at-home Open, dropping the .com element from all promotional material and removing hyperlinks to the online gaming site after a legal intervention by Schleswig-Holstein’s state-licensed casino. The casino operator argued that the sponsorship deal represented a clear breach of the State Treaty on Gaming since bet-at-home.com does not hold a valid German gaming license.

Despite the name change however and removal of links to the gaming site from the tournament website, Hamburg authorities have increased pressure on the organisers to completely drop bet-at-home as a sponsor of the event.

Bet-at-home was expected to put €250,000 into the tournament in sponsorship fees alongside the €200,000 from the city of Hamburg.

The tournament which boasts a prize pool of €1 million is the highest-ranked tennis tournament in Germany and one of the top 20 tournaments in the world.

  • Andy Murray Betting

Posted on July 2nd, 2009 admin No comments

Andy Murray fought his way into his first Wimbledon semi-final, but the odds of him winning the title have actually lengthened.

Murray was 2-1 to lift the trophy before his quarter-final match with Juan Carlos Ferrero. And despite crushing the Spaniard in three straight sets, he is now 5-2.

“Ironically, the closer Murray gets to the final, the longer his odds get – but that is purely down to Roger Federer’s impeccable form, which is making him look unbeatable,” William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said.

Murray’s victory in the tournament will cost millions to William Hill.

Andy is now 1-3 to beat American Andy Roddick in their semi-final clash tomorrow.

Federer, the world number two and highest seed in the tournament, is 2-5 favourite to win the final on Sunday.
