Many Bettors Prepared to Make an NFL Preseason Bet on Ravens
Posted on July 1st, 2010 No commentsThere may not be a more popular squad heading into the 2010 season than the Baltimore Ravens and bettors are all set to make an NFL wager on Baltimore.
The Baltimore Ravens are attracting interest for their preseason games and they are also receiving event in NFL preseason odds at the sportsbook on the gambling odds board to win the Super Bowl.
NFL preseason bet timetable information has the Baltimore Ravens beginning up with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, August 12th. Since they are at home, the Ravens will be favored in that game. The Ravens are at Washington for their rivalry match versus the Redskins in Week 2 of the preseason. In week 3 of the preseason, Baltimore hosts the giants while they wrap up at St Louis on September 2nd.
The Baltimore Ravens is 14-1 to earn the Super Bowl and those probabilities may drop even more before the normal season kicks off in September. The Ravens have an offense that is anticipated to be improved this season with the addition of wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Quarterback Joe Flacco at last has a big play receiver and the addition of Boldin should open up the offense. Boldin is a physical receiver willing to run routes in traffic. Flacco has the arm to throw into tight spaces. The Baltimore Ravens should throw more, and with more success.
Baltimore thinks they can win the Super Bowl, so they are taking no chances. They brought in quarterback Marc Bulger in the event anything happens to Flacco as an insurance policy. The Baltimore Ravens were not confident in their backup quarterbacks, Troy Smith and John Beck. The Ravens are going to be paying Bulger $3.8 million and that is a lot of money for a backup quarterback. He can also earn up to $5.3 million with contract bonuses. That tells you that the Baltimore Ravens are really serious about winning the Super Bowl.
Now the Baltimore Ravens have another seasoned quarterback, so the addition of Bulger could be important in NFL preseason probabilities. Bulger has 27 matches of at least 300 yards passing throughout his career. He became the fifth-fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach the 20,000-yard passing milestone in 2008, doing so in only 81 games. Squads that have the greatest quarterback depth are the ones to observe in the preseason. The addition of Bulger gives the Baltimore Ravens two reliable quarterbacks and then two respectable backups in Smith and Beck that will need to impress since the Baltimore Ravens will only retain one of them.
The Ravens may very likely move Smith to a team that needs a backup during training camp or preseason, which is a high likelihood. Beck could be on the chopping block, but if the Baltimore Ravens do indeed have plans to move Smith to another squad, then Beck will easily be the 3rd stringer, behind Bulger, for the 2010 season.
The Ravens open up the regular season on Monday Evening Football on ESPN against the New York Jets. Baltimore is a three-point underdog in that match vs the Jets with the total at 37.5.
