Andy Murray fought his way into his first Wimbledon semi-final, but the odds of him winning the title have actually lengthened.

Murray was 2-1 to lift the trophy before his quarter-final match with Juan Carlos Ferrero. And despite crushing the Spaniard in three straight sets, he is now 5-2.

“Ironically, the closer Murray gets to the final, the longer his odds get – but that is purely down to Roger Federer’s impeccable form, which is making him look unbeatable,” William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said.

Murray’s victory in the tournament will cost millions to William Hill.

Andy is now 1-3 to beat American Andy Roddick in their semi-final clash tomorrow.

Federer, the world number two and highest seed in the tournament, is 2-5 favourite to win the final on Sunday.
