  • Celtics Defy NBA Betting Odds, Take 2-0 Lead Over Magic

Posted on May 30th, 2010 admin No comments

That the Celtics (50-32), a team that started the NBA playoff betting season going 3-9 in their previous 12 games, was just .500 since Christmas, and that looked rusty in their first round basketball betting game with lowly Miami, is now in place to sweep the Orlando Magic (59-23) in the Eastern Conference Finals betting is something that not many NBA odds makers saw coming.

But no one will claim that Boston don’t deserve it. The team is fresh off a remarkable win versus Cleveland, the team with the strongest record in basketball betting (61-21), and thus far has picked up where they left off vs. Orlando in the NBA betting odds action.

The surprising thing about the Celtics NBA playoff betting achievement is not so much that this team is competing so nicely, as it’s a clearly talented lineup and just two years removed from an NBA betting championship, but more that the medium for the achievement is none of the team’s Big Three (Allen, Pierce, Garnett). The star of Boston and the best player on this team is PG Rajon Rondo.

Rondo went nuts in Game 2 of this NBA betting odds matchup, continuing his run as the top player in the NBA playoff betting action this year. He ended with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. He made some important scores down the stretch also to seal the deal in this 95-93 nail-biter.

But the Celtics faithful shouldn’t pull out the brooms just yet, because this basketball betting series is far from finished. A 2-0 lead in an NBA betting series is something to be proud of, but it’s not a certainty. Particularly when you’re playing against a highly dangerous Orlando team.

It’s no secret why the Magic put together the second best record in NBA betting this season and if any team is capable of doffing its way out of a 0-2 hole, it’s the Magic.

So far the Orlando Magic have not played wonderfully, getting inadequate balance on offense and assistance from only a few players. The Magic’s star swingman Rashard Lewis has just 11 points in this series (5 points in Game 2), and even worse, he’s taken just 15 shots in two games. Matt Barnes has also been intangible in this NBA playoff betting series with 8 points in two games.

If either player achieves double digits in the next game, Orlando will win.
