  • Murray Wimbledon Victory Would Win A Punter £16,000

Posted on June 29th, 2009 admin No comments

A punter would win £16,000 if Andy Murray wins Wimbledon. Mike Griffiths from Ruthin in Clwyd staked £80 on the Scot to win Wimbledon by 2010, in August 2004, when his odds were 200/1.

William Hill mentioned they had so far been unable to contact Mr Griffiths, who was on holiday in Spain.

William Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe said: “We’ve tried to make contact to see whether Mr Griffiths may be planning a visit to Wimbledon, but he’s apparently on a touring holiday in northern Spain with a malfunctioning mobile, so his family can’t reach him to tell him how Murray and his bet are getting on.”

William Hill would pay out more than £1 million if Murray wins the tournament.
