Sportsbook notices the move from Toronto to Philadelphia

Sportsbook odds render the home team in baseball an advantage. The Phillies would have been favored in Toronto but at home in Pennsilvania they will be more likely favorites at the offshore sportsbook. Major Lague Baseball changed the series because of the G20 Summit scheduled for Toronto. The league is worried about security issues. “After reviewing all of the options with the parties and taking all of the security considerations into account, it was determined that the best course of action is to play the series in Philadelphia,” MLB commissioner Bud Selig said.

This series in June is definitely going to be different in terms of how it is viewed in sportsbook odds. Since it is the only series between the teams this season it cant be played at any other time. The Blue Jays will be the home team and bat last and the DH will be used even though the games are being played in the U.S.. The Blue Jays were hesitant to move the games, especially since Roy Halladay would have been making his first trip to Toronto since signing with the Phillies. Blue Jays president Paul Beeston said it was an “extremely difficult decision.” The series should have beenone of the most popular ones of the season for the Blue Jays. “We did not want to move the games but in looking at the realities of this situation, we felt that relocation was the most prudent course of action.” Beeston added.

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre will be the site of the G20 summit and Toronto’s baseball stadium is within the security zone that is within range of the convention center. Security is going to be a mess anyway and with the baseball games it would have been nearly impossible for city officials. Some people have said that the security problems are more disasterous than the ones faced by officials in Vancouver during the Olympics.
