  • Suns & Celtics Try to Triumph on Home Turf in Basketball Playoffs

Posted on June 5th, 2010 admin No comments

Basketball playoffs betting normally favor the home team in the playoffs and that will be likely in these two games, though the numbers will be small.  Los Angeles and the Orlando Magic were the choice teams before these series started, and they will get recognition in basketball odds, even on the road.  Let’s see the potential now that the home court has shifted.

The Celtics and the Magic have split their last ten game in Boston.  This season the Magic trumphed in both of the competitions at Boston.  They won 83-78 back in late November and went on to win 96-89 in early February.  Both of those games went under the total.  In fact, the last four meetings and six of the last seven between the two teams in Boston have gone under.  With both teams having excellent defenses, that could recur on Saturday night.

The Phoenix Suns have triumphed in six of the last ten at home against the Los Angeles Lakers, though they are just 3-7 against the spread. The teams split their two matches in Phoenix this season. The Suns won 118-103 in late December while the Los Angeles Lakers were victorious 102-96 in mid-March.  That game went under the total while the game in December just barely went over. Three of the last four at Phoenix between Los Angeles and Phoenix have gone under the total.  That is somewhat startling because the Suns don’t play a lot of defense.  What has happened however is that the odds makers amended and made the totals on Phoenix games quite high.  After what happened in Game 1 of this series it could be that the totals get in the vicinity of 220 before this series is over.

When the site changes for an NBA playoff series the pace and the outcome of the games can also change.  When it comes down the final four teams in the playoffs it is less likely that a sweep will take place so the competition are usually tight and competitive.  That ought to make Saturday and Sunday’s games in Boston and Phoenix worth seeing and wagering on.
