Posted on October 2nd, 2009 admin No comments

eGaming Review reports claim that one of most trusted online bookmakers Stan James has recovered from a long four month decline and has become the third most popular bookie on odds comparison site Oddschecker during September.

Rivals, William Hill and Paddy Power, were removed from their previous third and fourth positions in the rankings.

Oddschecker’s commercial manager mentioned: “The big mover this month was Stan James, which jumped up to third place from fifth last month. A particularly strong performance on Ayr Gold Cup day plus their traditional strength on golf throughout the month was enough to edge them ahead in the race for third.”

Nevertheless, Betfair and Bet365 continue to hold top two spots in the rating. Top 5 most visited online bookmakers according to Oddschecker site are shown below.

    2. Bet365

Betfair, the world’s biggest online betting community, signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with 2009 Champions League winners FC Barcelona.

It makes the UK-based betting exchange, where football fans bet against each other, the official betting partner of the Catalan giants.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after Betfair signed a three-year partnership deal with English Premier League champions Manchester United.

Another commercial tie-up with Liverpool is expected to be announced soon.

Through the partnership, Betfair will generate sports betting content through FC Barcelona’s website. Its branding will also be visible across multiple channels and locations including perimeter boards at the La Liga club’s Camp Nou stadium.

English Manchester United has partnered with Betfair in a deal that will greatly benefit both parties.

As a result, the relationship between one of top Premier League teams and Betfred has been severed and Betfair moves in as the club’s next official sponsor.

As dictated in the terms of the deal, Betfair will make the Manchester United logo part of their marketing efforts, along with perimeter board signage.

The partnership has also resulted in the formation of betfairfootball.com, a website that will feature content from club players.

The two parties will also work together on the ‘Betfair Goal Challenge’, which will introduce United members Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov to a goal competition for this season.

The betting group is currently associated with the England & Wales Cricket Board and previously acted as Fulham’s 2003 shirt sponsor.

William Hill won best on-line betting site award at inaugural Irish Sports Betting Awards in Dublin. William Hill was nominated for the award along with Betfair, Boylesports, and Ladbrokes, but judges decided that William Hill is currently the best betting website available to Irish punters.

“We’re delighted to receive this prestigious award. We listened to the Irish punters and asked them what they wanted in a sports betting website and I think the results are there for everyone to see,” said William Hill’s Director of Public Relations David Hood.

“Already this year we’ve seen a huge increase in Irish traffic on williamhill.com and we think that our website was a worthy winner of this award” said Hood.
