William Hill won best on-line betting site award at inaugural Irish Sports Betting Awards in Dublin. William Hill was nominated for the award along with Betfair, Boylesports, and Ladbrokes, but judges decided that William Hill is currently the best betting website available to Irish punters.

“We’re delighted to receive this prestigious award. We listened to the Irish punters and asked them what they wanted in a sports betting website and I think the results are there for everyone to see,” said William Hill’s Director of Public Relations David Hood.

“Already this year we’ve seen a huge increase in Irish traffic on williamhill.com and we think that our website was a worthy winner of this award” said Hood.

Boylesports price Real Madrid 9/4 to face Manchester United next season in the Champions League. Ronaldo is priced 10/1 with the same bookmaker to be crowned World Player of the Year for 2009-10.

Several unconfirmed reports suggest Boylesports is to close its multilingual customer support centre in Pueblo Nuevo, Spain, and has already retrenched some 40 staff members. Last September the company announced a Euro 3 million investment in setting up the centre in Spain.

These rumors are supported by last month’s news where Boylesports CEO Daniel O’Mahoney surprised industry observers by quitting his five year tenure with immediate effect.

The company declines to make any comments.
