  • Stan James Betting Increases In September

Posted on October 2nd, 2009 admin No comments

eGaming Review reports claim that one of most trusted online bookmakers Stan James has recovered from a long four month decline and has become the third most popular bookie on odds comparison site Oddschecker during September.

Rivals, William Hill and Paddy Power, were removed from their previous third and fourth positions in the rankings.

Oddschecker’s commercial manager mentioned: “The big mover this month was Stan James, which jumped up to third place from fifth last month. A particularly strong performance on Ayr Gold Cup day plus their traditional strength on golf throughout the month was enough to edge them ahead in the race for third.”

Nevertheless, Betfair and Bet365 continue to hold top two spots in the rating. Top 5 most visited online bookmakers according to Oddschecker site are shown below.

    1. Betfair
    2. Bet365
    3. Stan James
    4. William Hill
    5. Paddy Power

  • Paddy Power Lose $2.1 Million

The Irish bookmaking firm Paddy Power was so confident that Tiger Woods would win the PGA Championship that it paid out $2.1 million in winnings to Woods’ backers before Woods teed off in Saturday’s third round.

“It takes a special kind of dimwit to turn what should have been our best-ever golf result into our worst,” the firm said in a news release Sunday night. “Paddy Power punters are obviously the big winners here and have made like bandits getting paid out on Tiger as a winner. Our only saving grace is that [Irishman Padraig] Harrington didn’t do the business, thank God!”

Those who favored Yang made out even better. His pre-tournament odds with Paddy Power were 150-1, and he was 16-1 going into Sunday’s final round.

  • Franck Ribery To Join Chelsea?

Posted on August 5th, 2009 admin No comments

Chelsea could make an offer to purchased Franck Ribery this week according to speculation in today’s press. However, bookmakers still believe the French winger will be staying put at Bayern Munich this season.

Paddy Power and SkyBet are betting on where Franck Ribery will be when the transfer window closes and there are some generous odds available about Chelsea if reports in today’s papers are to be believed. Paddy Power have already cut the odds of Chelsea signing Ribery to 6/1 but SkyBet are still offering 12/1 which looks far too big given the strength of the reports. Those odds are sure to be cut.

Bayern Munich are still favourites to keep hold of Ribery, they can be backed at 1/2 with Paddy Power and 2/5 with SkyBet to still have their prized asset when the summer transfer window closes. Bayern Munich are looking for a massive fee and that is thought to have put off Real Madrid who are now 3/1 with Paddy Power and 11/4 with SkyBet to sign the wing wizard.

According to SkyBet, who are offering the 12/1 on Ribery joining Chelsea, Barcelona and Liverpool hold the same sort of chance as the Blues of signing Ribery. All three clubs are 12/1 with SkyBet. Man Utd are next best at 16/1 with Paddy Power. To find out what other clubs are interested in Ribery, and their chances of signing him, visit either Paddy Power or SkyBet websites.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka available at 12/1 (Paddy Power). However, his team-mate is priced at 8/1 chance (Blue Square) to be the top goalscorer.

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is at 12/1 (SkyBet) and his new team-mate Michael Owen is available at 20/1 (Coral). Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie is at 20/1 (Bet365) while his partner Emmanuel Adebayor is at similar price 22/1 (Coral).

  • William Hill Football Bets Abandoned?

Some of William Hill football bets may be abandoned next year. This move is done to prevent the company from becoming a victim of suspicious betting patterns.

End-of-season matches appear to be most vulnerable. Paddy Power already adopted a policy for suspending betting on all end-of-season games in the Irish football league. Now, William Hill is considering a similar policy for some games in England next season.
